The Fight or Flight response is activated in the brain and body during the Alarm Stage of stress
People experience many different reactions in the alarm phase because we are all different.
The Resistance Stage of stress tries to get body and emotions back to a normal state (homeostasis).
There are positive and negative ways to resist stress.
Negative ways can be destructive to you and others.
In the Exhaustion Stage of stress the body breaks down and becomes sick (colds, depression, etc..)
Preventing Stress
The PEAK model helps prevent stress before it even occurs. PEAK stands for Planning, Experience, Autonomy and Knowledge. These things help prevent the perception of threats (stress).
